The Sankaty Head Caddie Camp, continuously operated since 1930, is one of the last remaining caddie camps in the world. The Camp is located at the Sankaty Head Golf Club situated at the eastern end of Nanucket Island, Massachusetts. Sankaty is listed as a "Top 100" Classic Course" by Golfweek Magazine.
Supported by the Sankaty Head Foundation, the Camp is home each summer to 60 caddies and staff members. Campers live in a structured, disciplined camp environment and spend part of each day caddying for members of the Sankaty Head Golf Club. Campers are paid for caddying and also have the opportunity to qualify for academic scholarships awarded annually by the Sankaty Head Foundation. The camp grounds are located between the 11th, 12th and 13th holes at the golf club.
After being selected through an application process, caddies come to this camp from all over the United States and abroad.
The guide-star at camp is Excellence. Learning to be an excellent camper and caddie is a critical life learning experience. Learning at a young age to do the “best you possibly can” each day, regardless of adversity, is a lesson that changes a boy to a man.
